WebAug 23, 2024 · Don't Kink the Cable. The wire at the center of coaxial cable is molded inside a foam jacket to keep it away from the shielding and to block interference. If you kink the cable or bend it around a sharp corner, you crush the foam. At that point, the damage is done and there's no way to undo it. Never bend cable around a radius smaller than 3 in. WebUnfortunately due to the proprietary connector, I don't know of any non-oem cables. I would be interested in this too, since the original cable is quite fragile, so if you find one let me know. WebSep 10, 2024 · Based on the comment by @tfb, my own short answer to this is to contradict my electromagnetic musings in my question and say that, as Iron manufacturers know that hot metal plates can easily burn power cable insulation, the price you pay for safety is a heavy cord, and that once it develops a kink, it retains it.

Doesn't have to be a long extension either, an additional six feet does wonders.

But I have seen them more or less relaxed and likely to "kink" up in coils.
