The implementation of the macro needs to know the actual values of the keys to calculate the lookup tables for the map, but unfortunately the macros can't inspect the values of the consts, all they see are the names. kip south park

WebI want to write a simple benchmark for HashMap, to compare it to rust-phf. The benchmark code looks like this: b.iter( kw_existing.iter().map( s KEYWORDS.find(s))); where KEYWORDS is a static PhfMap and kw_existing an array of all keywords. This works fine. However, the analogous code for HashMap does not: Web10. júl 2016 · It appears that the Rust program using BTreeMap outperforms the C++ program using map (that uses a red-black tree), but it appears also that the fastest Rust program, that is the one that uses HashMap, takes more than 3 times the time taken by the program using unordered_map, and more than 10 times the time taken by the program …

Webphf HashMap uses a somewhat slow hash algorithm (quoting the documentation) to avoid DoS attacks. With large enough maps there's also a possibility of collisions. On the other hand, phf uses perfect hashing (hashing that guarantees no collisions) to build compile-time maps. This way we can have efficient constant-time lookups at runtime.

WebA member of a static set, based on rust-phf A dynamic string kept in global hash map with atomacially refcounted entries In this usage of rust-phf we quickly ran into the other problem discussed in OP that when compiling the library we don’t know all static strings that dependent crates might want to use. Web13. apr 2024 · The data entries in the mutself! macro are stored in a custom section in the executable. The code that run only has a pointer to the top of the section (that pointer always stays valid because the custom section will always be at the same place in virtual memory). All entries in the section are referenced relatively to this pointer. The layout ...

Web8. aug 2024 · Rust-PHF is a library to generate efficient lookup tables at compile time using perfect hash functions. It currently uses the CHD algorithm and can generate a 100,000 entry map in roughly .4 seconds. By default statistics are not produced, but if you set the environment variable PHF_STATS it will issue a compiler note about how long it took. WebFor larger lists phf-map is the way to go. phf-map at compile time figures out the most efficient hash function to use and bakes it in. The map is designed to be static. OTOH Rust's HashMap is optimized for insertion (and other things); an …
